Maye Ni Maye - Shiv Kumar Batalvi

Really great song, you can listen it forever. Lyrics has its own magic, nicely written by Shiv Kumar Batalvi Ji but ,I  am equally thankful to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sahab to introduce this great composition in his voice. Memorable...
[Mother, o mother, My songs are like eyes That sting with the grains of separation.]
[In the middle of the night, They wake and weep for dead friends. Mother, I cannot sleep.]

[Upon them I lay strips of moonlight Soaked in perfume, But the pain does not recede.]
[I foment them With warm sighs, Yet they turn on me ferociously.]

[I am still young, And need guidance myself. Who can advise him? Mother, would you tell him]
[Tell him/her to weep with lips shut tight lest the world hears him/her crying.]

[Ask him/her to eat the bite of separation baked by destiny on a flipped girdle.]
[Metaphorically, separation is equated with an improperly baked loaf of bread.]
[Lick the salty liquid oozing out of roses of sufferings to give heart courage to bear pain.]

[Who are the snake handlers From whom I can get another skin?]
[Metaphorically, snake’s skin is equated with separation that is inevitable.]
[Give me a cover for myself. How can I wait like a jogi,At the doorstep of these people Greedy for gold?]

[Listen, o my pain, Love is that butterfly Which is pinned forever to a stake.]
[Love is that bee, From whom desire, Stays miles away.]

[Love is a palace where no one but the souls live.]
[Love is such a courtyard where the bed of nuptial night is never laid.]

[Tell him/her not to take the names of dead friend aloud in the middle of the night.]
[I am afraid that after I am dead, this vicious world would label my song as evil.]

O Lal Meri Pat - Dama Dam Mast Qalandar

(O the red robed, May I always have your benign protection, Jhulelal (as he was affectionately called ). O, the lord, the friend and the Sire of Sindh and Sehwan ( or Serwan ),The red robed God-intoxicated Qalandar, The lord in every breath of mine, glory unto to you)

Chaar charaag tere baran hamesha, Panjwa mein baaran aayi bala jhoole laalan
O panjwa mein baaran, O panjwa mein baaran aayi bala jhoole laalan, Sindri da Sehvan da, sakhi Shabaaz Qalandar, Dama dam mast Qalandar, Ali dam dam de andar

(Your shrine is always lighted with four lamps, And here I come to light a fifth lamp in your honor )

Hind Sind ( some also sing Ghanan ghanan ) peera teri naubat vaaje, Naal vaje ghadiyaal bala jhoole laalan, O naal vaje, O naal vaje ghadiyaal bala jhoole laalan

(Let your heroic name ring out in Hind & Sindh ( or lets the gongs bell loud ), Let the gong ring loud for your glory day and night by the people ( ghariyal - watchman, symbolism of night )

Har dam peera teri khair hove, Naam-e-ali beda paar laga jhoole laalan, O naam-e-ali, O naam-e-ali beda paar laga jhoole laalan, Sindri da sehvan da sakhi Shabaaz Qalandar, Dama dam mast Qalandar, Ali dam dam de andar

( O Lord, may you prevail everytime, everywhere, I pray of oyur well being, In the name of Ali, I pray to you to help my boat cross (the river of life) in safety)

Sochta Hoon Ke woh Kitne Masoom Thay.. Kya se kya ho gaye dekhte dekhte

Ab to haathon... se lakeeren bhi miti jati hain
usko kho kar to mere...... paas raha kuch bi nahin
Kal bichadna hai.. toh ahd-e-wafa soch ke baandh
Abhi agaz-e-mohabbat hai gaya kuch bhi nahi
Mein to eis waaste chup hoon ke tamasha na bane
Tu samajhta hai mujhe tujh se gila kuch bhi nahi

Kuch eis tarah...

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. -Frederick Keonig
What is happiness? What makes you happy? What makes one person happy may be unimportant to the next. And, the degrees of happiness vary from simple contentment to being overjoyed. There are many categories in which we experience happiness from health, wealth, spirituality, being in shape, family, friends, career, food, vacations, material possessions, music, giving, receiving, listening, being heard and on and on.
Many people decide that they will be happy WHEN something happens, i.e. when they get the new house, when they get married, when they meet someone, when they retire, when they find another job, when they take that vacation, when they pay off their debt, etc. Doing this will cause you to miss out on being happy NOW.
If you are always waiting to be happy, you will be waiting forever. Because as soon as you get the one thing you've been waiting for, there will be something else you want and you'll have to wait to get it too. So instead of waiting for happiness to come to you, why not find that happiness that surrounds you each day?

As cliché as it sounds, learning to live in the moment and learning to appreciate what you have right now will bring you happiness today instead of waiting for it down the road. It's the small things in life that you may be missing that are everywhere around you and when you become aware of them it can change how you view the world.

Think of some of the little things we take for granted each day that go from mindless daily occurrences to simple moments where you suddenly savor the simplicity and beauty of them. The smell of freshly brewed coffee, the sound of birds waking in the morning, a cool breeze, flowers opening their velvety leaves to the sun, the aroma when you walk in a bakery, squirrels scampering about, the dew shining on the grass in the morning, telling someone you love them, having someone tell you they love you, a crackling fireplace, freshly popped popcorn, your favorite flavor ice cream, a cup of hot tea, someone who opens a door for you, your favorite song on the radio, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, the smell of fall in the air and the leaves crunching under your feet and on and on.

Call it awareness, appreciation, gratitude or whatever you want to call it, when you tap into it and learn to value the scents, sounds, tastes, and feel of all of the little gifts in life you can't help but celebrate all of these treasures that are here right now. And, the best part about it, you never have to wait to enjoy them.
Open your eyes to the beauty of the world and embrace the moment. In the meantime, while you're waiting to be happy, you just might be surprised how the little things in life can actually make you happy while you're waiting!
Find out how to wake up each day and enjoy your life!
Thanks to Prasanna for sharing

The story of recent times

It's all about bringing things into light those happens every now and then. A sneak peak into the new generation and there expectations with life. They cannot digest a simple fact that every day is not theirs, failure is inevitable. If such thing happens they get into deep depression following with endless misery that continues forever. Hardest moment is not that when u lose something & tears come out of your eyes, but its the one when u lose something and still you have to manage. People don't have patience to respond to the problem they keep reacting over it. Oh this is not happening ... i am in complete mess.. They are losing their capacity to accept the failure as a result several people gets frustrated and commits suicide. Now to understand this there can be many more factors pertaining to it like family expectation, peer pressure , unrealistic ambition , common human tendency to acquire things that other's have and huge generation gap causing disconnect with senior ones. As per hindu mythology whatever you achieve in life finally boils down to zero or nothing. So experience the nothingness and be happy. But this does not mean that you stop putting your efforts. So start moving your body .. try try but don't dare to cry.

Nice gazal : Jab teri dhun mein.....

Wording goes like this
Jab tere dard mein dil dukhta tha
Hum tere haq mein dua kartay thay
Hum bhee chup chaap phira kartay thay
Jab teri dhun mein jiya kartay thay

Probably the finest work i have ever came across from NFAK. Forget about the wording,
experience the vocal improvisation with raagas its divine. No words to describe what lies in it, you can only experience it, checkout the full song here

Tum Agar Yuhi Nazren: NFAK

Tum Agar youn hi nazrain milatey rahe maein-kashi mere ghar se kahan jayegi
Aur ye sil-sla must-kil ho to phir, be-khudi mere ghar se kahan jayegi

Ek zamane ke bad aayi he sham-e-gham, sham-e-gham mere ghar se kahan jayegi
Meri kismat main he jo tumhari kami, woh kami merey ghar se kahan jayegi

Shamah ki ab mujhey kuch zarurat nahin, nam ko bhi shab-e-ghum main zulmat nahi
Mera har dagh-e-dil kam nahi chand se, chandni mere ghar se kahan jayegi

Tu ne jo ghum deye woh khushi se leye, tugh ko dekha naheen phir bhee sajday keye
itna mazboot hai jab aqeeda mera, bandagee merey ghar se kahan jayegi

Zaraf wala koi samney aaye to, main bhi dekhoon zara eis ko apnaye to
Meri hamraz ye eis ka humraz main, be-kasi mere ghar se kahan jayegi

Jo koi bhi teri rah main mar gaya, apni hasti ko woh javaan kar gaya
Main shaheed-e-wafa ho gaya hoon to kya, zindagi mere ghar se kahan jayegi

I've found a reason for me

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know

manzile hai toh raste,
raste hai toh faslein,
faslein hai toh mushkilein,
mushkilein hai toh umeed,
umeed ki fighter hamesha jitta hai

Cleopatra Stratan English (original version)

The coat is inside house,
The sun seems to be doomed
And nothing is goin good.
I often think of Ghita…
But Ghita’s not in town
I know, I was watching around
It seems that he is gone
To get provisions…

Hard, it has been very hard
Want, but don’t know what I want
Of me, I know you too are fond…
Tell me, Ghita what is up with you?
come, or either go
Or tell me what to do
So please, don’t make me mad
Ghita, what’s up in your life?

Ghita, I’ll wait for you my dear Ghita
Tonight, at our place, do come,
But when you come don’t come as you do…
Usually, empty handed, who else
Is gonna wait for you as I do?…
A whole night, just for you my Ghita?
Show me just one other girl who
Can love you as much as I do!

Ghita, te-astept diseara la portita
Langa portita de la scoala
Vino da numa nu vini *** vii tu
De obicei cu mana goala
Cine te mai asteapta ca si mine
O seara intreaga numai pe tine.
Ghita, arata-mï tu o fata care
Sa te ïubeasca asa de tare!

If You Want To Find Love

Kenny Rogers : The Gambler

On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness
til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, son, Ive made a life out of readin peoples faces,
And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you dont mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice.

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, if youre gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin
Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

So when hed finished speakin, he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count you r money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.
